The classes are conducted to a mixture of classical and children’s music to help stimulate imagination, develop rhythm and encourage musicality. The classes are taught through storytelling and mime that helps the child to learn in a creative atmosphere. Ballet is the core of all dance genres as at this particular age the basics of ballet is used to encourage balance, co-ordination, core stability, strength and cardiovascular, whilst improving the child’s self-confidence.

Pre-Primary/Primary Ballet/Grade 1 and Above

At Deborah Jayne School of Dance we teach ballet up to Advanced 2 standard, following the ISTD syllabus. Through carefully structured classes, we teach correct technique and aim to achieve the highest standards relative to each individual’s physique and ability. We strive for exceptional classical line and quality of movement alongside encouraging freedom of expression, particularly in the lower grades. Ballet is superb for developing excellent posture, strength and flexibility. Our classes are enjoyable and rewarding but require discipline, commitment and dedication. Our teachers provide a caring and supportive environment in which our students can thrive. As all dance forms compliment each other, to enhance their learning in ballet, we recommend that children also learn tap and modern dance.

Tap Dancing
The ISTD syllabus is followed to enhance technique and introduce vocabulary of steps. At this level examinations can be taken. This is an exciting and fun class using rhythm and techniques in tap syllabus, it takes the child’s fundamental skills and cleverly uses them throughout the exercises.

Please see our Parent Information for classes at Eddie Catz.
